SDXA CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS

.
These are the scores of the Spokane DX Association as a club. Both CQ Publications (the CQ Magazine company) and the ARRL sponsor contests with different rules. Some of the Columns below, for various contests, are:

contest year
SDXA club score
(X/Y) X place out of Y club entries
CQ listing of USA only vs. worldwide
club division or category (for ARRL only)
how many member entries from our organization

These contests include the ten in the PNW Challenge Cup. Other contests are mentioned for historial purposes.

For a combined score for CW and SSB separate contests, the number of entries is the number of CW and SSB combined. For CQ contests, some competition results are listed only for USA stations or worldwide including the USA.

Only the ARRL gives out wooden gavels for winners. SDXA has won four of these in the past. See comments on the gavels near the particular contest results.

CQ WW 160 (SSB/CW)

USA is included in Worldwide totals, not USA only. It is required that there be a minimum of three entrants from a club for this contest for its total to be published by CQ. According to their rules:

Any club that submits at least three logs may enter the Club Competition. The name of the club must be clearly identified under club competition on the summary sheet, or summary portion of the Cabrillo log. Please ensure all entrants from your club use the same club name (spelled the same) in the Cabrillo entry. Non-compliance with this request may result in your score not being credited to your club’s entry.

2005 GAVEL WIN

In the Club competition in the 2005 ARRL International DX Contest (combining scores in cw and phone), our SDXA won FIRST PLACE in the Local Club Category. Our prize was an official ARRL contest gavel which was given to Lamar Ray WA7LT for his great contribution to the total score.

Lamar WA7LT with gavel

Our total combined cw and phone score was 2,432,637 points with 5 entries, beating out the Mt. Frank Contesters and Northeast Wisconsin DX Association. Congratulations to all who participated, Lamar for his multi-single hospitality, and Lamar and Gary for their high score contributions. Without the scores from both stations, we would have not taken first! A write up on our club win is on page 102 and 104 of the September, 2005 QST article.

2002 GAVEL WIN

In the Club competition in the 2002 ARRL November Sweepstakes Contests (combining scores in cw and phone), our SDXA won FIRST PLACE in the Local Club Category. Our prize was an official ARRL contest gavel which was given to Gary K7OX for his great contribution to the total score.

Gary K7OX

Our total combined cw and phone score was 985,614 points with 8 SDXA entries, beating out the Western Wireless Contest Club and the Raytown ARC. Thanks to all who participated and to Gary and Lamar for their high score contributions. Without the scores from both stations, we would have not taken first! This was a pretty big event for the SDXA as this was done in the first year of their existence.

2009 GAVEL WIN

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

From Ward N0AX’s ARRL “Contest Update” dated February 3, 2010:

“It seems that we just sent in the logs, but 2009 ARRL November Sweepstakes results are already online, including the Club Competition! Click on “Initial Results” for a PDF of the final results and the line scores. The searchable database, Log-Checking Reports and in-depth writeup will still be published on the usual schedule in QST and in expanded form on the Web. The effort to turn the scores around quickly was a great success and a big thank you is extended to the log-checkers and paper log data entry volunteers.

Due to an error in the Club database, the Northern Rockies DX Association was mistakenly listed as the winner of the Local Club category in the 2009 ARRL November Sweepstakes. The correct Local Club winner is the Spokane DX Association. (Thanks, ARRL Contest Branch Manager, Sean KX9X).”

SDXA made 462,188 points with seven entries. This club competition combines the cw and phone sweepstakes scores.
